Everyone has been wronged in some way on eBay, and it’s probably one of the most annoying things you can get involved with because you can’t do much about it without a hell of a lot of effort, and the amount of money you’re normally after probably isn’t really worth the effort. So it just turns out being massively annoying. One guy managed to find almost the perfect response to this though when he decided to text the complete works of Shakespeare to a guy who had wronged him.
Edd Joseph – who’s a graphic designer if you can’t tell by his picture up there and the double D in his name – bought a PS3 for £80 off eBay and was pretty pissed off when the seller didn’t deliver it to him. Can you blame him? He immediately went about devising a plan for revenge.
He discovered that he could copy and paste one of the Bard’s plays fairly easily into a text message on his mobile phone and then text them to his tormentor and it wouldn’t even cost him a penny due to his unlimited messages mobile contract. Edd can send the play as one text message to the prick who’s messing with him but because he can only receive it in a 160 character chunk it means that his mobile phone is now constantly buzzing as it struggles to receive all the text messages being sent to it. The 37 works of Shakespeare will cover an incredible 29,305 texts. That dude is gonna have one full inbox. Real slick from Edd.
Edd has so far sent 22 plays – many during the night for maximum annoyance value to his nemesis – including Othello, Macbeth and Hamlet and intends to send the other 15 over the course of the next few days. He says the idea came to him when he thought to send the dude a really long play – which turned out to be Macbeth – and then it only seemed natural to send him the complete works of Shakespeare following that. As you would.

Edd says that the seller has recently started to abuse him via text and phone call though, but to no avail: ‘I got the first reply after an hour, and then a few more abusive messages after that. His phone must have been going off pretty constantly for hours. But recently he has taken to calling me and giving me abuse on the phone. I tried to ask him if he was enjoying the plays, but he was very confused.’
‘I’m going to keep doing it. If nothing else I’m sharing a little bit of culture with someone who probably doesn’t have much experience of it. I’m not a literary student, and I’m not an avid fan of Shakespeare but I’ve got a new appreciation you could say – especially for the long ones.’
Fair play to the dude, this is a great way to troll someone who has fucked you over and hopefully more people will start doing this. Let me get my phone.
