Bret Easton Ellis and Rob Zombie sound like a match made in heaven when it comes to controversy and offbeat pop culture, so naturally it makes perfect sense that they would team up to work on a television series about the Manson Murders, right? It makes a hell of a lot more sense than Bret Easton Ellis teaming up with Kanye West in any case.
The TV series is being developed for Fox and Alcon television and will see Bret Easton Ellis writing the script and Rob Zombie sitting in the director’s chair. He sounded particularly enthusiastic about the project, offering the following words: ‘I have been obsessed with this insane story since I was a kid, so obviously I jumped at the chance to be involved in this incredible project. After speaking with Bret, I immediately realized that we shared the same vision for this epic madness.’
In case you didn’t know, Charles Manson and his followers were responsible for the murder of seven people in the Hollywood Hills in the late 1960s. The graphic nature of the crime scenes was so intense – including messages written in the victims’ blood – that it seems obvious that Ellis and Manson were the right men to bring the story to the small screen. Let’s hope they don’t screw it up.
No news on when the show is set to air.
