Romancing The Stone

Before Michael Douglas started marrying people half his age, he made the excellent Romancing The Stone, slightly misleading title as it DOES NOT revolve around someone’s obsession for dating boulders. The movie centred around novelist Joan Wilder (Kathleen Turner) travelling to Columbia to rescue her kidnapped sister who is being held to ransom over a treasure map sent to Wilder via her recently murdered brother (you’ve got to love the foresight). Here she meets soldier of fortune Jack Colton (Michael Douglas) and embark on a journey of action and adventure with some lovey dovey stuff thrown in for good measure.Little is known about the remake other than it being used to propel Katherine Heigl’s career, and they may well throw Gerard Butler into the mix, seeing as he’s doing alright for himself and people seem to know he is, the guy from 300 right?”
