8) Ultra-Bending Neutron Stars
Image VIA
Neutron stars are really dense, and as we know, where there’s higher density there’s more gravity. There’s so much density on a neutron star that it bends light so that it curves at tight angles. It bends the light back so much that in some places on the surface of a neutron star you would be able to see the entire surface of the star. Try and get your head round that for a second. It would be like us standing in Margate, or Southend, or wherever, and being able to see the entirety of earth, right the way round to Sydney. Nope. I can’t get my head around that at all.
I need to have a lie down. Space is so much weirder than you could ever imagine.
