6) Niihau

The seventh largest populated Hawaiian island is called Niihau. And you can’t visit. Did you know that Hawaii is the extinction capital of the world? Well, it is. Stuff is dying off left, right and centre. For example, half of their 140 species of birds are already gone. In a bid to slow the Hawaiian species’ slaughter, Niihau is, for all intents and purposes, shut.
Now, only the original natives of the island and the owners of the island are allowed to set foot there. Niihau has no roads, no indoor plumbing and no electricity. If you pay a million quid or so you can catch a helicopter to the island and walk on the beaches, but you aren’t allowed anywhere near the interior or the local inhabitants.
To be honest with you, if there aren’t any bars, I don’t want to go any way. Keep your stupid island.
