4) Tricot
If I said Tricot were a Japanese girl band you might get the wrong end of the stick. Unpredictably they aren’t about to launch into some sickly sweet, turd covered pop, not at all Sir. These girls play their own instruments and they play them damned well. (Their drummer joined late and is a bloke though).
There’s some funk and punk, some garage stuff and a lot of very accurate math/post-rock musicianship.
They were formed in Kyoto in 2010 and released their first mini-album in March 2014 – Explosion Toriko-San.
Without wanting to sound condescending, pervy or ignorant, it’s good to see some females playing interesting stuff on the rock circuit. Have a go on this:
