“Chair Appolinaire” by Jana Sterbak
Ever watched ‘Epic Meal Time’ and thought, “There must be a novel way I can sit down and eat that much bacon?!” Well in 1996, Jana Sterbak, beat us all to the post. Another example of Dadaism, Sterbak created this as part of her ‘Vanitas’ collection, a reference to a 17th Century still-life painting style that depicted rotting fruit and meat. Very clever. Although I’m not sure her ironic feminist message translates when all I can think of is asking my mum to make me a bacon sandwich.
