7) Albert Ebossé Bodjongo — 2014
Bodjongo played pro footy in Cameroon, Malaysia and Algeria. Unlike the others in this macabre list he’d actually finished his running about for the day when tragedy struck. He was simply exiting the pitch after a home game between JSK and USM Alger a few days ago.
An idiotic fan lobbed a rock that hit Bodjongo clean on the bonce. He died in hospital a few hours later from a traumatic brain injury, aged 24.
Since the incident the Algerian Football Association has suspended all football indefinitely and shut down the stadium.
See, I told you sport was dangerous didn’t I? Now sit back down and whack the telly on. It’s much safer in the long run. Or, if you insist on playing sports, why not take up ping pong or bowls?
