One of the great things about MMA is that it’s just two people going into a cage and fighting each other to see who the best is – there’s something primal about that and that’s why it appeals to so many people.
However, whilst it’s great that theoretically people of any age or skill set can face off against each other provided they’re the same weight class, there really should be some kind of age limit applied to it to prevent fights like the one below from ever occurring. It features a 68 year old grandma name Ann Perez de Tejada going up against a 24 year old firecracker named Laura Dettman. There was only really one way that this was going to go down:

Oof. I mean Perez talked a good game and had the crowd behind her, but seriously she got her ass kicked from almost the first second of the fight, and it looked like a scrawny old person going up against a fit, tough young fighter. Should shit like that really be sanctioned or allowed? I’m not so sure and the rest of the MMA world seems to be wildly condemning it.
Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again unless the older fighter actually is an absolute badass that can at least hold their own, like when this 53 year old spectator smashed a 21 year old MMA Fighter. Ataboy.
