4) Humberstone and LaNoria, Chile
Humberstone and LaNoria are abandoned saltpeter mines in Chile. Residents of local towns won’t go anywhere near them. There are reports of phantom babies crying and ghostly apparitions all over the shop. The cemetery also boasts some open graves which have lead to tales of the undead marauding about after dusk.
The workers at the mines were treated like slaves and often grafted until they died. The towns were closed down in the 60’s when saltpeter was no longer such a worthy commodity and in 1990 the towns were reopened as a tourist attraction. No one goes in after dark though… I’m assuming.
