Crossing over into the mainstream.
For years wrestling has strived for the mainstream credibility it’s never going to get. The problem is that more often than not wrestling promoters are out of touch with everything outside of 2 dudes settling blood feuds by destroying as many tables as possible. Still, time and time again promoters will try to bring in celebrities from Hollywood or getting their wrestlers onto ‘popular’ TV shows in order to get a little extra publicity. The now defunct WCW took this idea one step further by attempting to cross promote one of their big shows with a feature film. What celebrity did they bring in to spark viewer interest? Why only the future of law enforcement himself!

Thank god Robocop was on hand to “run off” those evil Horsemen and save his “buddy” Sting from….I dunno, cramp. Ole Anderson shouting “You’ll be a bucket of bolts when we get through with you!” off camera (No doubt shaking his fist in the air) just totally makes this for me.
Say what you will about WWE these days, but at least they’d never be desperate enough to bring in fictional chara…
