2) Promoters
In the olden days promoters used to… guess what they did? That’s right, they would promote. That’s changed with the advent of Facebook. Now they just phone 5 or 6 bands, tell them they’ve got a gig and set up a Facebook event. The end. They might pop up a couple of posters in the venue and maybe print off some flyers for you to hand out but that’s it. The only other thing they’ll do is pick up the door money at the end and give each band a pittance for their troubles.
The band sorts out the transport, the equipment, the music, the energy and the people. The promoter provides the person who collects the money (sometimes).
Don’t get me wrong, there are still some good promoters out there, I just haven’t met any for a while.
