3) Pedro 123 (Crystal Culture)
Pedro 123 is a fresh-faced 18-year-old fella who swarms with swagger out of London town. He was founder of the Crystal Culture label who you may well have come across on your aural wanderings.
UK Funky, Jersey Club, Bmore and Grime are his predominant flavours; He was in Eats Everythings’ top 10 beatport tracks of 2013, he even got a pretty epic big up from Roska who said he was one of his ‘club pillars’. High praise indeed.
He earned his stripes on the DJ circuit, but in 2012 he started making waves on the production side of things too. He’d been working his tits off on the DJ roundabout when all of a sudden things picked up for him. It came after a couple of his remixes were released; namely Trim’s ‘Notice Now’ and a remix of Starkey’s ‘Command’ single.
Pedro 123 has been likened to Wen and Bloom but he’s really got his own take on things. Here’s one of his sweet remixes if you don’t believe the hype:
