1. Lost River
Ryan Gosling’s first attempt at direction has not gone down well. At all.
His picture Lost River debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014 and was subject to a barrage of criticism, being labelled as pretentious, seedy, convoluted, and few other names that would look a little distasteful even in print.
Lost River even managed to alienate its own distributor, with Warner Bros supposedly embarking on a mission to sell the distribution rights to the movie to somebody — anybody — else.
Apparently annoyed with their own investment, Warner Bros then denied Gosling’s flick a theatrical release, with the film instead set to be pushed out direct-to-DVD sometime in April.
Ouch.
