2. Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
The seventh instalment of the Star Wars saga has caused backlash in some corners for simply being green-lit in the first place.
The Force Awakens is set to kick off yet another Star Wars trilogy, and after the distinctly mixed reaction that the prequel trio of Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith received, it’s easy to see why three additional movies directed by the same man who wrote the screenplay for Armageddon might be stretching things a bit too far.
Not only has the very idea of three more movies managed to ruffle feathers, but the fact that The Force Awakens is set to be produced by Disney (with George Lucas kept away at arm’s length) has served to incite people even more.
Not due for release until December, this is a debate that will continue to rumble on long into next year after the brand spanking new lightsabers have whooshed across screen.
