Thin Covering
That light blue haze is our atmosphere. That thin, microscopic layer is the only thing keeping us alive. If a strong wind came along (unlikely in space I grant you) and blew it away we would be in trouble.
It gives you an idea of just how fragile life on our planet is. It reaches around 300 miles into the sky, but the vast majority of it is in the first 10 miles up from the surface.
