8) Gargantuan Goliath Bird-Eating Spider

Holy mother of Jesus these things look gross. Spiders are instantly terrifying to most sensible people and this monster is the mother of all terrors. IT. IS. MASSIVE. The Goliath bird-eater gets the accolade of being the largest spider on earth – basically dinner plate sized.
Weirdly, its bite is no worse than a wasp sting to humans. Don’t get me wrong, you wouldn’t want to be a small animal anywhere near those monster fangs, but something of our girth will be just fine.
The Goliath bird-eater was first spotted by scientists whilst it was chowing down on a bird, hence its name. However, most of the time they are happy with small mammals and large insects. Just FYI, there is no way in hell I would ever touch one.
