Florence Nightingale came to fame for her work in the Crimean war, although later on it became well-known that she accidentally killed more people than she helped. That being said, she did start the first nursing school in the world and was also a champion of the graphical display of data and dissemination of medical knowledge. So at the time she may have upped the corpse count, but on reflection she did change the way medicine was practiced and reported for the best; so I reckon we’ll give her the praise she has earned.
