“If I had no sense of humor, I would long ago have committed suicide”
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was famous for his nonviolent resistance and leading India in its struggle for freedom against the British rule. He married at the age of 13 and by some accounts was crushingly shy at school. It must have been quite a surprise to those that knew him that he eventually attracted millions of followers. He was tragically murdered by a fellow Hindu with a gun who blamed him (erroneously) for backing the British religious partitioning of India. Martin Luther King Jr. and the 14th Dalai Lama both profess to have drawn on his teachings as a great influence on their careers.
