10) Sun Dog

Although not strictly speaking a cloud formation I thought I’d mention these guys last. Sun dogs are caused by the light from the sun being bounced through ice crystals in the air. The ice crystals have to be a certain shape and all aligned in the right direction for this to occur.

The reason I mention these is that recently more and more people have been looking at the sky and screaming “CHEMTRAIL!” Chemtrails aren’t real, the sky has been looking and behaving strangely for millenia, and because conspiracy nuts have only just started taking notice of the sky, they’ve only just started noticing things like this going on.

Sun dogs can be seen from most places on earth when the sun is getting low in the sky and is sat behind high, thin, cold clouds. They won’t be generally as impressive as the one above and you might only be able to see a light spot on one side of the sun, but they are happening all the time.
