What’s more, Rock is in the top 20 highest-paid celebrity of any kind, coming in at 19th on the list with the $64.5 million he earned just in the past 12 months.

Rock-solid box office numbers helped the erstwhile wrestler become the world’s highest-paid actor. Since helping launch the billion-dollar Fast and Furious franchise and leading 2015’s “San Andreas” to a surprising $473 million worldwide, Dwayne Johnson has become Hollywood’s go-to action hero. Next up for the beefy star: a starring role in the upcoming “Baywatch” remake. “I can kick ass better than anyone on the planet,” he once told FORBES. “And I have a decent smile.”
The #1 highest-paid overall celebrity was Taylor Swift, who made a ridiculous $170 million over the last 12 months.

What’s crazy is that despite the fact The Rock isn’t even that great an “actor” (he’s no Leo or Christoph Waltz let’s face it), no one will begrudge him this success because he’s just such a safe geezer. The guy’s been around for ages now and I don’t remember one single person ever hating on him. Whether he plays a hero or a villain or shows up on WWE Raw to emasculate all the new wrestlers, everyone just accepts that Dwayne Johnson is the man and let him get on with it. It’s Rocky’s world, we’re just living in it.
