James Holmes, the convicted mass shooter, has been moved to a secret location after getting assaulted by another inmate.
Holmes is notorious for carrying out The Dark Knight Rises shootings back in 2012, where he stormed into a Colorado cinema and shot 12 people dead and injured a further 70. Dark times. And it seems his notoriety has followed him all the way to prison as he was recently attacked by an inmate after they recognised who he was.
At the time of the assault, Holmes was being held at the Colorado State Penitentiary in a pod by himself, which was closely monitored by the authorities. However, a prison staff member slid open a nearby gate while Holmes was leaving a manager’s officer, which put him in a close position to inmate Mark “Slim” Daniels, a convicted car thief. A report said:
(Daniels) ran through the slider, squeezing through as it was closing toward offender Holmes (and) began hitting offender Holmes, in and around his head, with his fist.
According to the officer who was escorting Holmes at the time:
Daniel landed at least two blows to offender Holmes before I was able to get behind (him).
After a struggle the officers managed to subdue Daniels. Apparently this whole thing was made possible because the officer escorting Holmes could not radio the guy controlling the gate because “his battery had gone dead”. Bit of a boo boo on their part then.
The attacker has since received letters of thanks and even money because of his actions. In reply to the support, Daniels said:
I’m so sorry I couldn’t wipe him out and sent (sic) him packing to Satan’s lake of fire.
It was just impossible to do by myself with so many cops. I did get him six or seven good ones. He was very scared.
Wow. So it sounds like Holmes is still equally as hated on the inside as he is on the out. Even after four years he can’t be within metres of other human beings (who aren’t officers) without receiving a beating. Guess that’s what you get for killing loads of innocent people at a cinema screening.
The Dark Knight Rises shootings was such a truly terrible occurrence and even further strengthens the argument to illegalise guns in America — just take a look at the haunting pictures of the aftermath.
